This is a result of my study from Gnomon Workshop- Designing a Modular Environment Using Unreal with Brian Recktenwald.
This is made with modular parts like walls, floors, and mechanical elements for the scene. In gathering references for the scene, I followed a traditional subway look and feel with a mix of old parts. I model and UV the train, vending machine, and other parts in Maya. I sculpted the tree root-looking thing in Z-brush using Z-sketch and added some details using a basic brush. In texturing, I used Adobe Painter and Designer for the blind tiles material. I also use Adobe Sampler for the tiling floor and wall materials. Unreal Engine- I made decals using Adobe Designer and Photoshop. Decals are placed around walls, floors, and other objects. This adds more life to the tiling materials.
The animation of the creepy thing and the light flicker is just a simple panner and wind node in Unreal material.
In lighting, I created fog with flying dust using Unreal's Niagra. This adds that creepy feeling to the environment.
In Unreal Engine post process I add some noise and a littile of chromatic abberation to get a little of that film look.
Happy Halloween! :)
